Yes, the external antenna should be pointed at the nearest tower. You can use an app like Open Signal or Cell Tower Locator to find the closest tower on your phone. Or, you can use a couple different websites like https://www.cellmapper.net/map or https://www.scadacore.com/tools/rf-path/cell-tower-map-united-states/.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I looked up the nearest cell tower and then I walked around my yard pointing my phone in different directions until I had the strongest signal. I pointed mine toward the strongest signal on my cell outside. It boosted my phone from 0 to 1 bar to 3 to 4 bars. I love it!
