Only had about 6-7 days left, but it asked if I wanted to add to my existing plan or start a new one.

I was not able to use the Webroot CD that I bought; for some reason it would not start the installation. I went to the Webroot site and used the download version with the Webroot key from the purchased Webroot CD.

As with most subscription services now (WWE Network, Playstation Plus, Malwarebytes Premium, etc), the new subscription gets added onto the end. One thing to remember is, since the activation codes are different, it is best to contact Webroot BEFORE you activate the code. What I did with my son's laptop before he was deployed overseas is I purchased a new code when it was on sale, saved the code at home. Then, when I received the email notification that his current subscription was about to expire, I activated the new code for him, with no issues or interruption. I hope this helps!
