Can the semi plug turn a fire television on and off? null

Off yes, on not unless the power button stays locked in the On position.

The Wemo only acts as a remote on/switch. Any functionality of the device it's powering onnand off are pending that device's properties once it's turned on via any other controls or apps for that device. The Wemo is essentially a remote power switch with timer settings like the old lamp timers people would use when they go on vaca and want their home to appear lived in.

If you’re wanting to simply send power or cut power to the TV, then yes, this will work. It won’t turn on a device that requires power before pressing a power button on the device.

I don't think it should be a problem. As long as the TV is plugged into Wemo Smart Plug, you should be able to turn on/off your TV by giving commands or using WeMo app.

That would defeat the purpose of having an automated device.

Essentially, it works as if you unplug something from the wall and plug it back in, this device allows you to do that with the app on your phone or smart home commands. If your TV turns back on after you plug it back in to it's outlet is now the question. I use mine for the China hutches in our home and a heat lamp for the pets.
