You can get nice cable internet that comes in through a cable like your antenna, but it connects to your wifi equipment (modem, router, etc). I have it through Spectrum, for instance. No landline. There is also non-cable internet through AT&T, etc that doesn't require phone service, but availability is poor here. I get about a dozen over the air channels with just an antenna. That doesn't take internet at all. I do like Roku for free TV/movies, too (including lots of channels via PlutoTV) but Roku does require internet. Roku also lets you have access to a multitude of apps like Hulu, Netflix, Weather, ESPN, etc on TVs like this. It acts as a home screen where you can download apps. Subscriptions are still required for most, but it's a cheap way to add the programs to a budget smart TV.

I get 29 channels with the tv tuner and my antenna which is the same as I get with the tivo tuner and antenna. It's hard to screw in the coax of the antenna to the tv though. You can get stand alone internet from the phone company.
