• Never a dumb question... The 9" refers to the size of the blade. Most slicers have a 7" blade so the 9" blade is so much better. They usually cost more for the 9" but this slicer was very reasonable with the 9" blade.

• 9 inches is the diameter of the blade, a larger blade would be easy to use and have better and even cuts
