The middle shelf is approximately 9 inches. With more room about 11/2 inches once on the middle shelf. The bottom shelf is approx 8 inches. Not difficult to assemble, but two people is necessary due to lenght.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The second shelf is 1/16 inch over 8-1/2 inches. So 8-9/16 inches. The third shelf is 1/16 inch under 8-1/2 inches. Or 8-7/16 inches. That's what mine measures. Hope that helps.
