No. It is bolted to the upper cabinet for additional support.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, we recently had one installed to replace an old vent a hood, which had cabinets on both sides. The space was wider than the microwave so there is a small gap between it and the cabinets but only the rear wall mount is needed for installation. And so far, we really love the microwave!
