True... there is NO pause button. You should also consider that anytime you break a loaded electrical circuit with a switch there is an arc across the contacts. Guess what? Repeated opening of the door interrupts the current and gradually destroys the door switch contacts. Look here when your microwave stops working.

My Whirlpool microwave can not be paused with any button, only opening the door. I was disappointed to learn this after the microwave was installed. Silly me for assuming all microwaves can be paused with a button. I have a different model but if Whirlpool says the microwave is paused by opening the door, then the microwave is probably like mine and can't be paused from the display.
