“I am wanting to put this above a slide in range where there is an existing vent hood. I want to take out the venthood and put this in its place, will that work and will I need to get a trim get?”

Shannon, please take time to look at the Installation Instruction to see if there needs to be any modifications needed to complete the installation of the microwave.
