“Does the door require a 1/2 inch clearance to open or is it a zero clearance door? Replacing older Maytag, selected GE model unaware of 1/2 " clearance required & door would not open more than a few inches. So now looking for suitable replacement”

The door will open up to 90 degrees, but is hinged to only need an extra half inch to the left. The door is inch and a half thick and it begins 15in from the back wall. Hope that helps...

Please try again later.If installing the microwave oven near a left sidewall, make sure there is at least 6" (15.2 cm) of clearance between the wall and the microwave oven, so that the door can open fully.
