• No, this microwave cannot be used on a counter-top and it cannot be used as a cabinet built-in. This is an over the range microwave.

• mine are installed over the range, (best place for it) and I vented them outside.

• Can't be used on a countertop (has the vent intakes and lights on the bottom and won't sit perfectly flat, would probably get damaged). It could probably be installed in a cabinet if you're handy enough to pull it off.

• Probably cannot be just place onto a microwave shelf and anyways you're paying a premium for the over-range capabilities like vent and light.
