Honestly, it's quite quiet. I'd say it's running in the 40 decible range while the compressor is on. I have had no impressions that the unit is loud or noisy while functioning, so don't be worried about that. Placement is also important...if your unit is exposed on all 4 sides, it will be marginally louder than a unit in a cabinet. I'd compare the loudness to that of a gas oven heating up, or one of the new extremely quiet dishwashers running.
