“Can this unit be installed through the floor? Does it have an open bottom for that kind of installation? We need one that connects through the kitchen floor to the open basement ceiling. Thank you.”

I don't think so, I was told that I had to have a water line connection and shut off valve on the main floor, with an electric outlet on the main floor or be hard wired with a connection on the main floor.
