The controls are on the top edge of the door. Open the door a little and you can see them and scroll through the settings. Once you select the setting you want, press start and an LED display tells you to close the door within how many seconds. It's pretty intuitive once you get used to it. There is an LED on the front top right of the door that changes color to tell you when it is washing, drying and done.
