Please review the following professional troubleshooting tips for this concern: Ice Maker Operation/Reset: If the ice maker is making ice but not dumping it, try a reset. Unplug the refrigerator for one minute, then plug it back in. Wait a couple of hours and check for ice production. A common reason for no ice production is that the ice maker was accidentally turned off. You can try a power cycle (unplug for one minute) or use the reset button (if available) for a few seconds. If the ice maker is on but not connected to a water supply, it can cause a buzzing noise and lead to the refrigerator or freezer sections becoming too cold, potentially freezing food in crisper drawers. Water Filter Status: Recent Replacement: Ensure a newly installed water filter is locked into place for a proper seal. An improperly installed filter can reduce water flow, decrease ice production, or cause leaks. To check, remove the filter and dispense water; if water dispenses, the filter was installed incorrectly and should be reinstalled. Filter Replacement: It is recommended to replace the Whirlpool water filter every 6 months or when the indicator light comes on. The required amount of water to dispense for a proper flush varies; refer to your filter's instructions (typically 1, 2, or 4 gallons). Water Line Installation: The refrigerator must be connected to a cold water supply using 1/4"" (6.35 mm) O.D. soft copper or PEX tubing. A service loop of tubing is recommended to allow the refrigerator to be pulled out for service. Check for kinks in the water supply line, as this reduces flow.
