• My opening is exactly 36 inches as well with my base board on one side and trim on the other, however it will slide in. If all else fails, you may need to remove a small piece of trim.

• Hello James. The width of this Whirlpool® Refrigerator is 36 inches. You do need to allow 1/2" of space on the sides and behind the Refrigerator for proper ventilation.
