No, it just means it is a true frost free refrigerator rather than a pseudo frost free refrigerator. I have only owned mine a few days and so far I like it much better than the Maytag French Door refrigerator that I just paid to have hauled away. The Maytag was one of those pseudo frost free refrigerators and eventually a thick layer of ice grew on the bottom of the freezer drawer. The 28 cu ft side by side Whirlpool should never have the ice build-up issue because it is truly frost free and therefore will cost a few dollars a year more to operate.
