Yes, the range hood will work on a 9' celing.

It may be a couple inches short depending on your range/stove. Make sure to read the specs--it needs to be a certain distance from the top of the stove to be efficient. We were able to install it anyway by putting crown molding around the top of the vent hood chimney at the ceiling, but it depends if you like that look. Hope this helps.
