Hi Becca, unfortunately, we would not recommend using a fabric softener ball in this Washer. If you want to add softener, we recommend doing it at the end of the first rinse. However, if you use the crystals we would recommend putting them on the bottom of the drum before starting your load of clothes. We hope this information helps.
