“I am concerned about the white handle becoming dingy and stained with time with the white washer. Can anyone answer what type of coating is on the handle and if it does indeed stay dingy? Not sure why whirlpool wouldn't have made all models have chrome.”

cdwdjones, the handle is made of power coated metal. While any appliance can get dirty, the powder coating does help to resist staining. We hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Funny you say that, we received ours brand new today and I just noticed a permanent stain on the white plastic part of the door near the handle. Looks like an ink stain but it was already there when we got it.
