Hi Anamorphic, Whirlpool does make an approved cleaner for the cooking surfaces. It is the brand Affresh. We would recommend trying this product to help with that spill. We hope this helps

Typically, it is safe to clean porcelain with a glass cleaner but do not spray directly on surface. Instead always spray on a clean microfiber cloth or paper towel, then proceed with cleaning. Never use anything abrasive on it nor steel wool nor the sponges with green scrubby. Opt for blue or pink with labels that explicitly say, "non-scratch" Also, if the boiling water had lemon or vinegar that may have done permanent damage to the surface as acids are corrosive. It is possible that there is a warranty issue here if there is a defect in the surface sealant which would fall under defect in workmanship or materials where a replacement would be appropriate according to the limited warranty.

But once you get it cleaned i would put aluminum foil under the grates or they sell the aluminum drip pans in home depot or lowes. Steam cleaning will help loosen the stain also and there are a lot of oven cleaners like easy off etc. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
