“I was baking something while I had a pan in the broiler. Tell me why my broiler was on and caught on fire?! Had to call the fire department and all. I am very upset.”

I make it a habit to not have anything else in the oven when baking. Sure, there are two sections but why take a chance of having a pan or items in one section. Things csn get hot regardless. The broiler button is near the bake button and can be clicked by accident. Not saying this is what happened in your situation, just what I've noticed with my oven.
