Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.We've had a smooth top for over 17 years, and I'm an avid cast iron user. I'm far from careful, and our smooth top looks fine all this time later. Obviously you don't want to bang the skillet down or anything. It is ceramic under there. I haven't used this stove though, but I'm assuming it has the same resistance. The most damage done to my smooth top is from water overflowing and hitting the eye. It boils of course, and since it is trapped under the pot, the pressure it too much. I have tiny, carved-out bubble marks around my eyes from this, so I would be very careful not to let anything boil over. Best to clean with baking soda and dish soap with one of those green and yellow scrubby sponges. Works far faster and better than the "ceramic cleaner" stuff and even gets the old, thick stuff you normally try to remove with a razor blade.
