• You need to purchase detergent made for high efficiency washers. On the detergent it tells you how much to use. It's very little compared to what one is typically used to. If you are washing something that has a high soil content you can add more. The pull out drawer that you add the detergent to has a max amount level, I use liquid and it never hits the max level. But I know I can add more if I feel the need.

• Use the measuring cup/method on your detergent container as this model does NOT have a dispenser that stores any excess soap, as some other washer makes and models have.
