“Is it normal for this unit to have expelled hot air coming out of the area where the tube connects to the machine? I used my gas detector and noticed that it was saying there was a gas leak. I'm assuming it was picking up on the Freon inside the machine”

In a two-tube system, one tube brings in outside air while the second tube exhausts the hot air removed from the room. It will get hot but is not a gas leak. It's probably a false reading from the air being passed over a metallic grid.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is normal for some heat from the exhaust hose to escape the hose. If your gas detector is picking up on the refrigerant, there may be a small refrigerant leak.
