• There is a very faint line just below that ledge. But I usually fill it up until it's just below the basket and that works great

• I only fill it to the water return. Which is the rectangular hole just under the ice tray. If you fill it beyond that sometime when it fills to make ice it will return and get into the ice tray. Then the ice melts.

• Yes inside the machine. Just below the ice basket,. There is an opening below the ice basket, you can see the fill line on both sides of the opening, there is a triangle pointing down on both sides.
