• It is not the same sort of ice. The smallest one of those machines will be about 4 times the price of this one. When this ice is first made, it isn't easily chewable. But the ice isn't as hard as freezer ice so as it sits in the basket and melts a bit, it tends to get more porous and easier to chew. It doesn't ever get as soft as sonic ice though.
