all retailers should do in person pre orders, no online and that will eliminate bots from buying online. Not only would it boost sales for the stores cause of the impulse buys also when customer is in the store waiting. People get hungry, Thirsty, Find something else they need or see something on sale. Just an idea.

Short answer, nothing. I had a Series X in my cart and in the checkout process and the messages kept saying "We're having a system problem but it should be temporary, try back in a little while." Finally, I got an out-of-stock message and my cart was emptied. All this after adding the pre-order to an already populated cart at the moment pre-orders became available. Needless to say, this card-holding, Elite Plus BB customer is not happy. Make me happy again, BB?

They do not care. As long as they get paid. Their "chat representatives" attitude is pretty much too bad, sucks that you did not get it but a bot did so we get paid, wait for next wave eventually. Its garbage.

I in have complained to all stores bout it and they seem not to care . Same thing with Walmart when it says sale at 9pm when 9pm hits they sold out already and people are buying multiple and selling them for high prices... they ruined it for the kids who actually want them

Best Buy’s greed is identical to the scalpers using bots to make obscene profits. It’s become obvious they don’t care at all about their reputation with the general public. They’ve had months now to take steps to help actual customers buy a product they desperately want. However, they’ve chosen bots as their primary customers, not you. It looks like most big retailers have decided to cater to scalpers because it’s a sure sale with minimal effort. Scalpers are BB’s preferred customers, clearly. We have to accept that we, the individual consumer, are not BB’s target consumer anymore.

nope and the thing they have implemented now favors internet connection speed. you click the add to cart button and it tells you to hurry up and wait that randomly (which isn't random enough) few minutes they will let a few be sold. every time i see that stupid button turn yellow it says something along the lines , we are requiring another step because of high demand. I got yo ur high demand, this is the problem with retail stores. non of which implement rain checks and reservations, which used to be common practice until Walmart ended it. its simple that keeps people from buying more than one of them , as well as keeps customers happy. but that's too hard. and also shows how much it only about profit margins.

Nothing, they need to follow up suit with their smaller competition M C..... In person in store purchasing only, if you want it you'll drive to a store and buy it. That would also take them caring about their customer. They don't change their ways they're going to lose a lot of customers to the much smaller retailers that are being customer first. Another week of sold out online and not available in store I'm probably going to take my 4-6k a year in electronics elsewhere. Not a happy elite member right now

The bots were an issue on preorder day and are even more of a problem 2 months later.

Not sure there's anything they can do at this point?! I was lucky enough to win a 3060 on Newegg's shuffle when they launched a couple weeks ago and plan to take my business here in the future. Best Buy is doing as little as possible while saying they are fighting bots/flippers to appear to care. I too have been sitting at my pc and refreshing the page till I see an add to cart button that never gets added... It feels impossible to be able to do so. Are most people using bots just to get the item?

Nothing. All they would have to do for highly sought after products is require your account be elite or elite plus to pre-order, and as stock comes available you are able to buy one. If there is excess stock then its opened to everyone else. But they won't because as others have said, they don't care. Not sure why they even have rewards levels for being loyal customers if you can't buy product you want.

I'm done buying from Best Buy until they start to care about their REAL customers.

I am the lucky one. I placed the order on 9/22 over the phone. I did call the Microsoft main number 30 minutes before the official pre-order started and kept the sales rep on the phone until 11:00a.m., she helped me to place the order.

Nothing. In order to add a human authentication tool it will require a complete website overhaul which is costly. 99.9% of the items they sell don’t need this so therefore is not worth spending the money in the long run. Their inventory is in a separate server which gets updated after the purchase not when someone puts an item on a cart. This is why someone can have it in a cart and it disappears before the purchase is completed. There is technology out there to fix this as well, you place an item on the cart and is reserved for X minutes until you complete the transaction. Also an expensive website overhaul that is not warranted for such low volume item which will not be in this demand in a few months

best buy change the game with the email verify process , they send you a random number and they u have go back and put it in to verify its a person adding the system to the cart .by doing this it holds the system while you do the verify from the email , so wont lose the console . f great best buy , you did great . about time a major company that actually cares that everyone gets a console to enjoy and not just about profits . thank you BEST BUY

I can assure you that bots will continue to eat up stock on all websites for at least the next couple years. Nothing they can do about it, 16 year old bot devs are destroying veteran built websites. Botters only target products w high demand and low supply, be mad at the companies for not making adequate stock.
