Why is this card so incredibly expensive??? null

AMD seems to be exerting ZERO pressure on AIB's to keep pricing at a reasonable level. They're literally just releasing new P/N of the same (or in this case lesser) parts and jacking the price up to whatever scalpers are currently charging. If you want a good deal, just stick with Nvidia cards from non-scalping AIB's like EVGA until this is over. And when it's over, remember this and steer clear of the AIB's that took advantage of the situation.

I believe it was extremely expensive because of the gpu shortage but now the prices have lowered and this is a higher end card
