“Im not sure how to measure the speaker. The hole in my ceiling is approx. 7 to 7.5 inches The speaker it self is approx. 6.25 but with the surrounding mounting plate it is 8" I am replacing a Hometech HT502R ceiling speaker”

You have to use the cardboard template that comes with the speakers to have the perfect opening..
