• I believe you could, they have tensioning tabs that hold themselves against the backside of the drywall.

• Yes, I installed four of these in my family room for my home theater setup. I have 2X4 walls and they fit just fine (which is one of the reasons I bought them). Obviously they will fit 2X6 walls as well. Good luck with your install!
