Yes it can. Hdmi 1 on my Sony Bravia is labeled as the EARC placement.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Probably not. You need an EARC compatible HDMI port on your TV. You can check. If you have one it should be clearly labeled. You can run the audio from your TV to the receiver if you have an optical out port on your Bravia. But then you're just getting the sound from the TV and you can't run other devices (game consoles, DVD players, etc.) through the receiver. Also - not much point in buying a 4k 120 hz HDMI 2.1 receiver to use it on a 10 year old television. You can probably pick up an older model that will work just as well for your TV for cheaper.
