It's stainless steel. It will be fine. And if you are the kind of person that buys outdoor geared products, but worries about them getting scratched - then perhaps you are purchasing the wrong product.

If you're afraid of it getting scratched in normal daily use, then don't buy it. or just keep in in the box in which it was shipped, and don't ever it. Even a $15,000 Rolex can and will develop scratches, over time, with normal, daily use. Just get yourself a cheap Casio G Shock watch with a plastic housing for $30.00. It will last five to 10 years, and when the battery needs replacement, just go out and buy a new one.
