It needs to be plugged into a USB port on a computer or into a plug adapter that accepts a USB cord and then plugged into the wall.

Connect the USB end to your computer or other USB charging unit and insert the other end into the keyboard. Charge should last 2-3 months depending on how much you use the backlit key feature.

You then have to turn the power switch of the keyboard on again after it has completed charging. Blue lights will flash which means the keyboard has been synchronized to the iPad and you're ready to use.
