the pairing key is next to the keyboard on / off key. Press it for a few seconds after turning on the keyboard. A blue light will flash briefly on the left shift key. After a few seconds, you should be able to type. PS Make sure you have the bluetooth option enabled on your Ipad air

It's a small button near the keyboard charging slot.

After entering your code, press the return key. Or contact Best Buy. They provide technical support through the "Geek Squad," and will be able to provide further assistance.
