Thank you for your inquiry. Please be advised that the NHS-10 rice cooker is a conventional style rice cooker, so only short/medium grain white or brown rice has been officially tested in the unit. This model is a 6 cup capacity rice cooker. The 6-cup of capacity would refer to the maximum amount of uncooked short/medium grain white rice that can be cooked in the rice cooker, measured using the 6 oz. measuring cup included with the unit. Grains that require more water such as brown rice will have a different maximum amount to account for the water and cooking process. The grains will approximately double in volume when cooked.
