The album Tribe Called Quest wanted to make from the very beginning. It's their most even, consistent album of the original trilogy that also includes People's Instinctive Travels... and the Low End Theory. But in spite of this, or maybe because of it, it's also their most uninteresting. With so many competent tracks, there's no chance for something to stand out above the pack, like InchScenarioInch did on Low End Theory or InchCan I Kick ItInch did on People's Instinctive Travels. The celebration is there (InchStir It UpInch), the jazz drums kick (InchOh My GodInch), and the stand-up bass dribbles, keeping perfect pace with Q-Tip's unmistakable mic-touch (InchElectric RelaxationInch). There's even a Native Tongues armistice/reunion with de la Soul (InchAwards TourInch). Although it comes together like a seamless tutorial in jazz hip-hop style, it comes together so damn well that it's hard for any one track to excel, cursing the album with consistent quality. Album Tracks 1. Midnight Marauders Tour Guide 2. Steve Biko (Stir It Up) 3. Award Tour 4. 8 Million Stories 5. Sucka Nigga 6. Midnight 7. We Can Get Down 8. Electric Relaxation 9. Clap Your Hands 10. Oh My God 11. Keep It Rollin' 12. Chase, Pt. 2 13. Lyrics to Go 14. God Lives Through

Tame Impala's fifth full-length album, Deadbeat, available on CD. On it, Parker sculpts a collection of wickedly potent club-psych explorations as a vehicle for some of his most direct, brain-wormy songwriting to date, recasting Tame Impala as a kind of future primitive rave act in the process. Deadbeat sounds like the work of an artist with a leveled up mastery and bristles with a revitalized energy for experimentation. 12 songs crafted with a newfound embrace of spontaneity for the renowned perfectionist. How that manifests is a distinct minimalism and crunch to many of the tracks, with a clutch of crucial details, timbres and textures that add an ineffably new dimension to the sound, as well as a richer, more playful vocal range than ever. Album Tracks 1. My Old Ways 2. No Reply 3. Dracula 1. Loser 2. Oblivion 3. Not My World 1. Piece of Heaven 2. Obsolete 3. Ethereal Connection 1. See You on Monday (You're Lost) 2. Afterthought 3. End of Summer
