Looks nice, good quality, easy to set up and use, voice quality is clear with no dropped calls so far. I have no complaints so far. The monthly fees & taxes are less than $8 per month. Should have switched years ago rather than keeping home phone as part of a cable TV bundle.

Crystal clear calls; easy to set up; fantastic on-line service, as well as helpful customer service personnel. Ooma offers so much for so little. This is our second Ooma (already had one for a vacation place). More features and flexibility than all the expensive extras available through cable or phone companies for next to nothing after purchasing the unit.

Ooma's setup suggests that the best location for this Ooma unit is between your cable modem and your router - it isn't, if you have anything faster than 100 Mbps (I have 500 Mbps). The Ooma is only good to 100 Mbps, so ALL of your internet will be slowed to 100 Mbps if you use their suggested setup. Just plug it into a spare router LAN connection and let it go to work. Why they continue to suggest their old placement, with most cable and fiber ISP's now far exceeding 100 Mbps, is a mystery.
Additionally, I found Best Buy for my purchase through Ooma, who claimed that I would be credited $50 in my account by going through a friend's referral to them. I have the $50, and probably will have it for years to come, because the account they put it in can only be used to pay international charges and for optional equipment. I had to pay the porting fee to keep my number - almost $50 (would've been nice to apply it there). I fully understand a credit only for Ooma's services or products, but to then add additional narrow restrictions that it becomes virtually unusable for many people is misleading, at best.
On the plus side, the audio quality is great (50 Mbps upload speed for my ISP). The porting of my number was fast and Ooma was accurate as to the final date. Paying just the monthly taxes for phone service is a huge reduction in my annual cost (a savings of close to $500), especially now that AT&T is trying to wiggle out of maintaining their landlines here in CA. I think the monthly taxes I'm paying are less than the fee AT&T wanted each month for Caller ID, which is free with Ooma. I use my own cordless phone with voicemail/caller ID instead of Ooma's system. I tested it and Ooma's works fine, but I'm already used to my system, so I'm staying with it. Ooma does let you do more with their web and cellphone app, but I don't need any of that - yet. Maybe after I get used to using my home phone again, it will be an advantage.
If you want an alternative phone to a cellphone (great when cell service is down), this is an excellent, inexpensive way to go - just don't count on Ooma's "free" $50 to help you out on the startup costs. 5 stars minus 1 for the setup flaw and $50 vaporcash.

Just making this change will save me $80 per month! I just hooked everything up on Jan 2nd, but so far no issues with sound quality, dialing local or long distance.
Four stars because the quick set up info was not so quick and easy. It took a bit longer than expected for the Ooma box to configure itself...but eventually it did. My account and phone was setup two weeks before, so that wasn't the problem. Phone customer service for setup does not appear to be available, but should be. They do have a chat line that is helpful, but I prefer speaking to someone when there are setup issues.
Overall, glad to have made this purchase. And glad to no longer be paying ridiculous money to ATT for a landline. I will later add the adapter to have the faxing capabilities... I have been telling anyone with ears about Ooma!!!

I wanted to reduce the amount of money I was paying my cable provider for home telephone service. With Ooma my home phone costs have been reduced by 80%. It was easy to install and the voice quality is nice and clear. I was able to keep my old phone number as well for a modest fee.

The setup was very simple. We did run into one hiccup when we plugged the internet cable into the wrong port on the back of the Ooma box. However, the ports were clearly labeled and we were able to recognize and quickly fix the issue. We plug our existing wireless phone base into the Ooma box and still use our same wireless phones around the house. We are working on porting our original phone number, but we were told that would take up to 30 days. I am very pleased with the overall cost, quality, and ease of use.

I was not sure about VoIP service or the sound quality and after searching YouTube it seemed Ooma was the best choice. Easy to set up and I am very happy with the sound quality. My cell phone voice quality stinks and I needed something better without paying a lot. My monthly cost is only the tax and fees is below $4.00! I can live with that, I would recomend Ooma for someone who wants cheap phone service with clear voice quality.

I love our Ooma.....it is extremely reliable, clear crisp sound, easy to set up and soo simple to use. It allows me to set up caller id reject, block numbers, voice mail, using the Ooma app I can remotely check messages anytime, anywhere (as a Premiere member), port over my existing number and after purchasing the device know that my privacy is secure. I highly recommend the Ooma and the Ooma services.

This has been a good service so far. We converted from another VOIP from our cable provider.
I use the premium service so that I can go online and work on blocking calls which is reasonably OK, but the online web interface is extremely dated and clunky overall.

You set this up with a router and you get your free number or you can keep your old one for a hefty fee and some wait time. either way u get long distance all for the price of $5 a month! cant beat that. calls are crystal clear and havent had a problem yet. only thing i would love to see improved is that speaker on the unit, some of the voicelmail i get is hard to understand cause the speaker is really bad.

Use this in my home as a 2nd line for my office. Spend several hrs a week on conf calls. One colleague has noted that I have never sounded clearer on the conf calls. Setup was easy and fast. Could not be happier with device. Works seamlessly with Xfinity ISP service. Home has tel line 1 service via Xfinity triple play, tel line 2 service via ooma, all connected to a uniden 2-line phone system. Have not tried to fax (receive or send).

I took a big step canceling our phone service, but it's been the best thing I've ever done. The Ooma is a great product. Clear talking, hear good, and no feedback when talking. Easy to setup, porting our phone number took a couple of weeks, not really a problem. The initial cost outlay was a little steep, but in a year we will be saving money.

I bought this to try to save some money on a landline, and it performs it's basic functions very well on the free Ooma tier. People I've talked to can't tell the difference between the copper POTS line and this VOIP, and in my area, the mandatory telecom taxes only run about 7.50 a month.
The 10 a month Premier version has some very nice features that I've enjoyed, namely the spam blacklist. The rest are cool tricks that different people will like, such as integration with Philips Hue lights to blink or change lightbulb colors when you get a call. I don't have Hue, but if I got those bulbs, I would love to integrate.
The web portal for your Telo is convenient in that you can download copies of voicemail for archival. Otherwise, you can use the Ooma app to make or receive calls from your Ooma number and remotely check voicemail.
The Telo by itself is wired only, so by default it needs to be near an Ethernet port, though if you prepay for a year of Premier, you can elect to receive a free WiFi adapter (50 dollars, otherwise) and place it anywhere in your home. You can also get one of those phone base station/hand set kits and attach the base station to the Telo wherever it will be and place the handsets in more convenient places.
Word of warning, though: The calls are routed over your internet connection, so if you have an unreliable satellite internet connection or are prone to losing internet signal in your area, the Telo will go out with it.

Free at Last! The advantages of a single "home phone" number without being tied to the phone company! Great call quality, domestic and lnternational. Nearly free service, dependable, and great customer service, if needed. I recommend Ooma to everyone I know....even some I don't know.

We were tired of paying so much money to our phone carrier, but we were reluctant to get rid of our phone line. Ooma pays for itself after a few months. It lets us keep our phone number and also allows us to block telemarketers. This is a great product for those who want to keep their landline but pay less. In the beginning, it was a little confusing, but we're happy we bought it.

Used to dump the local phone company while keeping the same phone number. Works great on our cable based internet. Saves over $30 a month. Has neat internet based features like translating voice messages to text so you can read in emails and simultaneous ringing at home and on my cell. I've switched many family members and coworkers. All are happy with the $ savings. Highly recommended.

Very easy to set up, good call quality. The Ooma online portal is feature rich. It is a high quality offering even without the premium add on. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a low price, high quality VOIP offering.
