If you plan to use this with the installed mechanical HDD you'll probably be disappointed. Know this laptop had a PCIe slot for a M.2 drive I planned that upgrade. I had issues with booting from the clone I made, but was able to resolve them. Cold boot is now less than 15 seconds, and I can stream hi-def with no issues. Apps open as fast as they do on my older but fast PC.

It's not a touch screen display but I don't need that feature which costs a lot more. The speed is good; very responsive. Hard drive size of 1 terabyte is phenomenal for the price. Laptop looks nice and it's fairly lightweight for a 17.3 inch display. Keyboard and pad are super functional. Unit doesn't heat up like other laptops I've had. But the battery life is between 2.5 to 3 hours.

New Asus 17" Laptop

The 17" monitor is nice, and it handles Windows 11 very well. However, I do recommend changing the color of the markings on the keyboard to a darker color, such as black, to make the markings easier to see under all lighting conditions. The markings are almost the same color as the silver keyboard surface which makes it difficult to see.

Had to replace the HP because part of almost totally broke off and replacing it would cost about half of a new one. I figured a brand new one would run far faster so that would be a benefit of having to replace it...so I went that route. I was wrong. The ASUS does not run faster, in fact it takes longer at sign-in and between websites. I'm disappointed.

Small issue with the key color because the laptop is silver, and the narrow light key color does not contrast very well. A better choice would be a bolder color such as black, but 5 stars for performance and ease of use.

I use this for work and personal, and it's a workhorse! Screen size is used well. Really good keyboard. LOVE that it has the numbered keypad as well, something many laptops just don't have room for. If you have to look at the keyboard though, this will be hard for you at night. It doesn't light up, and the lettering is hard to see in dark environments. Would have preferred it not start in S mode out of the box, but that's an easy fix. Video is good, though the built-in camera is meh. Sound is decent, though typical is a little underwhelming in certain environments. Very responsive. Battery is good for about 5ish hours. Connects easily to other devices. If I have one thing I really wish was included, it would be that this unit should have a touch screen. Not a deal breaker though.

High performance laptop that allows him to play for endless hours on the battery once charged. The screen is large and bright, overall a great device.

The good is it is easy to see. The negative is it is bigger than most protective laptop bags. It was an incredible value. It is a little slow to boot up but that is a problem with my back up settings.
