Do they test anything?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought open box pc, which is supposed to be tested by geek squad. Pc couldn’t even run the simplest applications without crashing. Took it in and Got the pc “fixed” by them. Took a long time said a 4 year old gpu with a msrp of 499 then cost 857. Canceled my protection after said repair. And got the computer back and doesn’t work won’t refund my protection plan. Terrible experience overall, and out over 100 bucks and still have no pc.

Poor customer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went o use this product and they said I never purchased it although I was told I did and now I’m paying 300 to have my computer. Fix the assist store manager was not help! I was given a 1888 Best Buy number no one answers. I actual cried from the lack of service. I’m a struggling nurse and this was an unexpected expense. I wish I understood what was going on in the purchase better.

A legacy tainted by corporate grift.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got geek squad accidental damage protection for a gaming PC. A water spill ruined the gpu. Liars at the store told me they didn’t have to fix it because I didn’t have a plus membership; I had to read back the ADP agreement to them. They took six weeks to replace the gpu with several inconsistent excuses as to why. One of these excuses was that they were waiting on a replacement gpu from the manufacturer (cyber power pc), which was a lie (it came back to me with a second-hand HP Omen gpu). The replacement gpu runs obscenely hot. Geek squad ADP used to be the best warranty in the business. They’re dead to me now.

Check if the product can actually be helped
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bestbuy/geek squad sold me a computer which brand they said they could not work under, yet still offered geek squad protection. When my CPU was hit by the INTEL i9 software issue that burned out CPUs I took my PC to my local bestbuy and the local Geek squad essentially told me to pound sand. They said they can't work on PCPower builds. My question? Why sell me geek squad protection on a product they can't work on?

Call Geek Squad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our order arrived today, the box seemed previously opened… As soon as we got home, we installed the PC, got no image…. Googled the same PC and to my surprise this is a common issue. Not happy with the product, I went o. The chat with geek squad, it was useless, called geek squad, they were a lot more helpful, still no signal. Returning this tomorrow afternoon.

Bad service Good scam
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely down right a scam. They only offer one type of insurance when buying from them and it doesn’t even cover most of what could go wrong. Very displeased with being turned away at the counter with the reason being they didn’t cover the issue under my current plan yet they didn’t check to see what was causing the issue, run a diagnostics check, or even go further then plugging it up and saying oh well it’s x issue can’t help I could charge you to try and fix it but we can not promise this will resolve the issue nor will we check to see if it did resolve the issue. Didn’t care enough to help someone resolve this issue or even make sure they knew that it wasn’t covered under their protection plan. MAKE sure you know what plan your buying. DO NOT count on them to even try helping after you walk away with your product. Please be careful with this they will take your money and not think twice

Orange Park location red hair manager
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried to refund a geek squad warranty, was told by corporate it would be no issue, they gave issues and tried to keep my money on a gift card for there store. Ive has 1200 lost in a gift card before with Bestbuy. It was terrible service and the red head manager was laughing the whole time. Terrible character for a manager, a person at that. I work hard for my money as we all do. For a company to take my money when it can be refunded to my debit. He as an employee went Against there policy. Just spent over 1.5k in February of 2025 to be treated like this.

Poor Managerial & Corporate Customer Service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought HP Omen Gaming Desktop Dec 28th. It has been used less than 20 times. Purchased 200/300 warranty. Best Buy Plus Member (former now). Just dropped off computer due to operating/software issue according to Geek Squad. You would think they and Best Buy would fix my barely used, 3 month old 1,300 computer. NOPE. Manager made me purchase a yearly membership or pay $250. So...this million dollar company just had me return a $700 unopened laptop and will now lose my business on our kitchen remodeling. Best Buy just lost a customer and 6-7,000 thousand dollars. Congrats. -Just reposted this review on Yelp, Google wt

Beware
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I sent in my computer for what I believed to have been a simple fix. After about a week, I was told that it was unable to be repaired (I sent a tower in to fix an issue with a USB port). I was told that I'd be given full credit at the value of my purchase. I declined originally and asked that my device be simply returned, as it should still be functioning. I was simply told no and that my only option was to take the credit, which does not sit right with me. I did not want to be forced into buying another PC, which cost me more money than my original purchase and I ended up with worse specs. The service center representatives are also horrible at callbacks; in example, a "two-hour callback time frame" lasted roughly 8 hours.

Best Buy sells broken products to scam insurance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son's computer broke the first month he got it and then brok again a month later. Manufacturer said the motherboard was no good and to issue store credit, not a refund. But i wasn't given a refund for the $350 insurance. They took that and told me i lost it. I dont understand how they can sell a product, have it break multiple times within 2 months and then tell me i get not insurance back. Dont buy the the insurance, its a scam.

Deeply Dissatisfied with Geek Squad and Best Buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will never purchase another product from Best Buy again. Purchased a $1k+ pc along with $200 accidental protection. 1.5 years into purchase I experienced major failure of multiple pc components. Upon dropping pc off to Geek Squad I was informed it would be sent away and componants would be replaced... next day I receive a phone call informing me that the GS employees are unable to complete the digital paperwork associated with it, and so the only option is to refund the cost of the pc (but not the warranty). I can no longer purchase this pc for less than 1500. Honestly, I highly recommend anybody looking to purchase high-end electronics look elsewhere!

Why purchase a warranty if it doesn’t help?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paid for this, what I don’t understand is if it’s covered by geeksquad the problem is listed as normal wear and tear I’ve had the pc for six months but I was still charged $100 plus tax for diagnostics and informed that it’ll be out of pocket if parts need to be swapped out. What is the point of buying a warranty if it fees like nothing is covered?

Totaltech not repairing my tablet.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a several year old tablet Samsung Galaxy SM-T800 that need a new battery. It was purchased at Best Buy. For that, I called the 800 number for the Geek Squad and explained what I needed. They told me that Best Buy did not carry the required replacement battery but I could get it online, somewhere else, and guided me to the website to buy it. They told me that I should buy it and take it to my local store in Reno for the replacement, free of charge under the Totaltech support. They scheduled me for that on 6/6/2023 at 10:20am. Since then, and for several days, I have been receiving remainders of the appointment, that I confirmed. I got to the Reno store at the indicated time, and to my surprise, I was told that they could not do the repair, and to go somewhere else. I am reading at the Best Buy website that they are a "Samsung authorized service center" and offer to repair computers and tablets. Because of the refusal, I went to a local computer store and they charged me $86 for the battery replacement. On discussing the issue with my neighbors, they saw the Geek refusal as unwarranted and suggested I should contact a higher level person in the system. Of interest, after my failed appointment, I received a text message from Best Buy indicating that I had missed the appointment.

0 help
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the extra coverage because I knew I would need some assistance with my first pc. Sure enough, within 2 weeks I had my new pc at the store due to over heating. The guy tells me the coverage I purchased equals them shipping off my pc to their “tech center” which would take about 3-5 weeks (which is wrong) after being persistent & showing my receipt he said never mind, they could look at it in 3-5 days but if they find anything wrong with it, they won’t replace the parts, which is the exact opposite of what the geek squad rep told me over the phone, who said that for example if my fan was causing my over heating issue they would install a new/better ones. Clearly not the case. I asked this guy multiple very standard questions & he said “I can’t answer that without looking at it first”. Went into Best Buy eager to learn about how to repair my pc & basic pc knowledge, ending up leaving Best Buy & just returning the PC because I’m not dealing with this headache. 0 help from the “experts”

A "protection plan" that is hardly a "plan" at all
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy's "Geek Squad 'service'" has me looking to local options on future technology purchases. I bought a desktop P.C. through them, and purchased their protection plan that claims to be for three years. Now, after the P.C. failed about a year and a half later, I scheduled an appointment, was promptly called by best buy and told they could not diagnose or repair the P.C. in the store. I was directed to corporate, where the first available appointment was two weeks later. If this is a "protection plan", I am taking my business elsewhere.

Received LOUSY service from Geek Squad; Very Sad
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old BB purchased HP desktop finally failed. Took to BB/Riverside CA where they transferred photographs & data from the old hard-drive to a BB purchased Western Digital external drive. Got instructions from Geek Squad on how to install photos on new Linovo desktop which I purchased today from BB Riverside CA. I had problems transferring the data & photos at home. Called Geek Squad @ 1-800-433-5778 for tech support because I purchased the 3-year coverage. The tech would NOT help me in trying to figure out why no transfer and, worse, she hung up on me! I spent almost a $1,000 today at BB and got real LOUSY service. She wanted more money to help me transfer out which BB put on the external drive. I'm a long term customer of BB and also a stock shareholder in the corporation. They let me down today big time!!!!!!!!!! written on 2-25-2021 Scott

Wasted money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took it to the store and they were going to charge me over $100 to have someone look at my pc… what was the point in buying this coverage if I’m going to have to pay to have someone look at it anyway?? It claims that if I purchase this, they cover the cost of parts and labor. Wasn’t the case.. severely disappointed and now I have a screeching pc that I can’t exchange…

Read the fine print
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought an open box computer thinking that if something went wrong it would be covered. Unfortunately this protection is misleading and my only option was to pay for another $180 plan.
