I am thoroughly dissatisfied with this player.It does not read dvds 90% of the time. then I put that dvd in our cheap player and it works better than this one. I have warranty and am in process of trying to get them to fix or replace this player.

I had owned this product for a week so can't say much on long term use. Overall I was very impressed by the sound quality of each of the speakers. The highs were clear, loud, and provided more of a higher quality sound then I would expect for a 5.1 system at this price range. The receiver allows you to adjust the overall db power of each individual speaker. Simply turning the left and rights (front and rear) down a bit and bumping up the midrange (center) speaker I was able to hear the voice within movies loud and clear and still had room to up the volume The bass in this thing is what surprised me. The bass did not sound cheap, no rattling, no fake/weak thumping. The bass was strong, and provided that deep solid thump/rumble that I would expect. So, the question is, why did I rate it 4 instead of 5 stars? Simply due to the proprietary speaker wires/connectors. I bought the system without first looking at the floor display and how the wires connected. Sony uses their own 2 pin connectors one the receiver end, and the wires connect internally on the speaker end. What does this mean for you? Well if your like me and would like to mount these speakers on the wall or if your left or right speaker is going to set more then 6 feet from the receiver (like many people I am sure), then you are out of luck. The front speaker wires are not nearly long enough. Sure you can strip the wires and add speaker wire to make them longer but I am sure that would void warranty, not worth it. Spent hours searching online to purchase the proprietary wires or connectors and the price to do so is outrageous. Because of this I took this system back and got my money back on it. Wasn't worth it at all. As far as the rear wireless receiver. Works great, wires are long on the rear speakers however the receiver in the back is much larger then I would like so would be difficult to hide especially if mounting speakers on wall. If you are not expecting to mount these on the wall or not too worried about hiding wires, then I would recommend this product.

The Home theatre system works great. The only issue was the delivery. I was out of town and ordered with 1-week delay following my return. The product arrived in 3 days and was left outside for 4 or 5 days

After buying a different brand (which didn't work), I bought this one. Guess what? It didn't work, either. Not impressed.

I bought this unit after returning a similar item (different brand) to Best Buy because it didn't work. Guess what? The Sony didn't work, either. Merry Christmas.

This is our second Sony System (different model); I don't think our other system worked even out of the box -as if never did what this one is doing.

I have a very small home theater room and didn't want to break the bank. For less that $500 this system is exactly what I needed. The wireless rear speakers are a great touch.
