This is an excellent movie. The movie was directed well. The actors really performed their characters with distinction. The movie won oscars awards as well. One of the characters won best supporting actress. The town where the movie was filmed was awesome.

There have been quite a few movies on Slavery before. But, this one takes it from a different direction. Chiwetel Ejiofor does an outstanding job. I had never seen Steve McQueen's work before. After watching this film, I was quite impressed with his work.

This movie won an Academy award for best picture and I totally agree. I have been wanting to see it at the movie theaters and never got around to it so I went in to purchase it and I'm glad I did. It will be one that we can watch again and pass around.

Incredible performances by Chiwitel Ejiofor, Lupita Nyong'o, Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Fassbender. This movie is spellbinding, violent and emotional. It's hard to watch is some places, but it's also a very important documentation of a true story.

Did not see this movie when it was in theaters, but I've watched it twice since I purchased it. The storyline was great and so was the acting. This movie ranks up there with some of my all time favorites. This is a must have for your collection!!!!!

I picked up this bluray copy for 12 years of slave because Lupita won the oscar for female lead and because the film won best picture. This film is graphic. However in no way offensive or unnecessary. I had a feeling it would be a boring movie, I can see how regular popcorn/action movie goers would think that. But for people that appriciate film, art, history, acting and storytelling at it's finest. Buy this! :)

Excellent movie. This story was very intriguing-great story and presented history of slavery during that time. Acting was great. Altogether a movie to watch repeatedl.

This is the true story of a free black man that was drugged and kidnapped, only to find when he wakes up that he has been sold into slavery. This movie win the Oscar for Best Picture in 2014, and I'm inclined to agree.

This film was very intriguing and heartfelt. It is so sad to know what others have gone through because of the evil hearts of mankind. The story had a happy ending as he made it back home to his family. Love conquers all.

If you don't see any other movie soon, see this. This movie was so compelling that I wouldn't allow anything to interrupt it. The characters were believable and the story was one that everyone needs to hear. Simply an outstanding movie.

Excellent film. The cast is superb. Hard to watch at times, but it’s expected that this isn’t a feel good film. Digital copy is great to have.

The acting, costumes and the set appeared authentic looking for the period it was depicting. The story was based on fact and it was a story that I never knew. Though some of the scenes were hard to watch, I did enjoy tho movie.

This is a great movie which focuses on a different aspect of slavery. This was the typical movie about transporting slaves from Africa. This movie showed that not even a free person of color was safe from the evils of slavery.

Great historical drama. Difficult to watch the scenes of violence. I think its important to have great films which depict slavery, holocaust, genocide, extermination of native americans, etc, lest we forget, lest we forget.

You have to watch this picture. It is understandable why it was picked as best movie. The acting is fantastic. It keeps you on your seat. And it shows truthfully how slaves were treated with no icing covering up the truth.

A wonderful film with a excellent story line and great acting. The dialogue was rough but accurate for the circumstances. The film depicted brutality but also hope and courage under adversity. I would recommend it to all.

12 Years A Slave won best picture at the Oscars for a reason. The acting in this film is so incredible that it is often difficult to watch. For anyone who thinks films should make you think, this is an excellent choice.

Very good movie touching on a dark period in American History. . The story is very touching and sad to see what some many had to endure. Once you watch this movie . It's easy to see why it won a Oscar for best picture.
