I would not show this movie to the young and faint of heart. Although the acting was a little over-acted, the message of this movie was on point. I strongly recommend that you read the novel. A lot of the stress was choked out of the movie. Some might say: Was there more stress and violence in the novel? The novel is crammed pack with violence. I guess they tried to soften it.

Film extremely well done. Very well performed by leading actor. I welcomed this film to my collection without a doubt, amd regret.

Very powerful movie. Very powerful performance by Chiwetel Ejiofor. The fact that his character was a free man made the psychology of his experience more horrific. Michael Fassbender did a great job as well.

This is a great movie that tells the true story of a free man kidnapped into slavery. The movie is based on a book written from the man own words. After reading the book years ago i found it pretty accurate.

The abuse of slaves in our country's past is shameful and this movie shows in great detail man's inhumane treatment of man. The ending is rewarding but the trials of the 12 years is just unbelievable.

Must buy! I saw this in the movie theater, I thought it was such a great movie that I purchased the blu-ray. Educate yourself on our history and get a small glimpse of the Native American culture as well.

The movie was great. I loved the way that they depicted slavery. How they struggled each day to survive. The characters in the movie each did an amazing job. All on all I agree with it being best picture.
