I learned a lot of what my ancestors went through I would recommend people to watch this movie it is very touching and it shows the struggles of what African Americans went through

This movie should be added to everyone's collection. It's a gripping tale of a free man taken as a slave and then freed again.

I would purchase again and recommend to others it is great I wish I 7had purchased a blu ray serious educational piece. Many should purchase this but also look for the lesson not a plot

The movie is really good! It took me almost a month to watch it because I was expecting it to be more gruesome, similar to Roots. However, it's not! Great introductory film for Lupita!

This movie and the events are sad. 12 years he held on and was reunited with his family. Thank God for that one man who believed him enough to actually help him out.

12 years a Slave was very hard for me to watch. Some parts of this movie infuriated me. In today's time, it's so much black on black senseless crime. Black men do care to know our history and the prices that were paid for our freedom. I'm very prond to be an african-American woman. I just pray for our children in today's time

Script had no positive ending. The main character should have done SOMETHING to help the slaves left behind!

I don't get to see this movie in the theater but I'm glad I got the DVD. I really enjoyed watching it in the comfort of my home. And I still got the feel off it even on my 50 inch.

Blue ray movie is very moving and well put together. Actors and actresses did an outstanding job of portraying their characters. Movie is truly deserving of the Emmy's it earned.

I found the movie to be very captivating from the opening scene. The story draws you in as the main character attempts to notify his family of his circumstances and location.
