    A true story, and a brutal film telling the sorrows of humans treated as property and not cared for. It shows the evil inhabiting human nature, but we are not all evil and the slave is returned to his freedom in the north.

    The DVD is good quality. There were no extras in the pack like with other DVDs I have purchased. I wanted the movie so I didn't care about the price - which was the going rate for new releases. I am satisfied with the purchase.

    Rude awakening to slavery's history! 12 years a slave is such an emotional movie.. But overall fantastic!!

    I love movies that while they tend to show how things were in the past that will upset many individuals. They allow you to understand where we as a people came from and where we as a country should want to not go back to.
