This is a fantastic game. The story started out slow for me, but once I got a handle on the people it was fantastic. Every character was interesting and there was enough mystery and twists to the story to make me want to play through in one sitting. The gameplay is pretty straightforward, and the battles aren't necessarily hard. However, there are enough secret stories and branches that replay is a must.

Do not sleep on this game! Many people may be a little turned off by this title by thinking it is just a visual novel. While there are visual novel components, they are far from boring. You walk around talking to people, and switch between 13 different stories. I was a little scared that it would be confusing trying to keep them all straight, but I was wrong. This game has, hands down, the best narrative of the Playstation 4 generation. The game has twists, keeps you guessing, and blew my mind numerous times throughout the game. There are also RTS style battles, and while the graphics are not fancy (mostly wire mesh frames) the action is great and I enjoyed it. It's a shame this game is not putting up huge numbers. Vanillasoft made games like Muramasa, Odin's Sphere, and Dragon's Crown, but this is the best game they have ever made. It's like Lost, The Matrix, and Back to the Future had a baby.

A surprise game that I was sleeping on until I finally picked it up. What a story! A really engaging story and interesting gameplay had me hooked all 30+ hours of the game. Fair warning, if you’re not one for visual novels this game might not be for you. Overall, it’s a great game to sink in and just enjoy the storytelling. The mech combat is easy, but enjoyable.

The fun types of games to get are the ones that I know nothing about besides a few important things that gets my interest. All I knew was that the story was beyond great and it was published by Altus, and it is a great game. it’s a tower defending strategy game that is fun but most buy it for the story and it’s cast of characters, If you have heard how great it is, it is that great.

One of the best sci-fi stories told, and not just in games. This is where the game shines and it delivers. It is in a visual novel style, so if you're looking for great gameplay with mechs fighting kaijus, look elsewhere. The gameplay is serviceable but simple, you're very unlikely to lose any battle even on the hardest difficulty. But again, the story is the meat of this game, and the gameplay even ties into it in a very nice way.

Dealing with alternate realities, time travel, body switching, mecha's and more fans of well written, character driven Sci-Fi stories will love this game. With Vanillawear's signature look this game has a wonderful, painterly look throughout. Story elements have limited interactivity but the strong narrative more than makes up for it. Strategy elements are solid too, with lots of potential depth if played on higher difficult settings.

I suggest anyone interested in this game watch some gameplay, it is a very distinctive game mixing both traditional Vanillaware gameplay with real time strategy combat. Story telling is very deep in this title and is probably their best narrative yet. Overall I recommend it but this is a very niche game and combat might drive most interested players away.

I heard good things and it was on sale for $30 so I thought I'd give it a try. It is very unlike the usual VN experience and the Vanillaware art and presentation is top notch. Also came with a small booklet which was nice although not the same as the older Atlus first print boxes as it is just a sleeve holding it with the game case. Well worth it especially if its on sale.

Vanillaware has done it again! This frankly might be their magum opus. 13 Sentinels is legitimately one of the greatest sci-fi tales I've ever experienced. Pretty much every sci-fi trope you could think of is utilized fantastically in this game. And despite there being numerous protagonists to keep track of, it's fairly easy to do, not nearly as daunting as it looks. If you're in the mood for a unique visual novel kind of game, this is the game for you. Though do be aware that the game isn't 100% visual novel, it's also part RTS as well. If that isn't your thing, just lower the difficulty so you can focus on the story

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim plays like a visual novel with added Real-Time Strategy (RTS) gameplay. This game contains one of the most interesting, unique, and compelling Science Fiction stories I have ever experienced. If you are a fan of games like Nier: Automata, Danganronpa, or Persona, I would highly recommend this game.

It is a shame that games that come out at the end of calendar years generally are not considered for games of the year. This is a fantastic title with time jumps reminiscent of the Chrono Trigger series and tight fun gameplay. Great game for anyone a fan of Vanillawares other titles, Anime or even the Persona series.

Whether you're familiar with Vanillaware games (i.e., Odin Sphere) or this is your first time playing their games, please give this game a go! This game is plot-oriented, with gorgeous artwork, fun gameplay, and I thought the cast of characters was excellent.

The developers behind this game, Vanillaware, have created some of the most stylish 2.5D games in the past decade or so. This may be their best yet with a deep and engaging story that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on you. A must play!

My mind is blown by how amazing this game is! I have still not finished it all the way through but the art, the story, the characters, the music, all just so good! I can tell by the time I finish it, it will be one of my top games of all time.

Intriguing story, confusing storytelling that sort of comes together in the end, but still requires way too much reading to understand fully. Gameplay is fun, but way too easy, even at highest difficulty setting.

I was expecting to marathon this game, but I think it's best to play it short sessions. The story feels better that way. The gameplay is pretty basic , but ramps up. I would recommend just for the story alone.

13 Sentinels is an epic sci-fi tale told through the criss-crossing stories of 13 different characters. It's one of the craziest stories you will ever play on PS4 and keeps you guessing right up to the very end.
