This is my first computer—I’ve always done everything on my phone—and the MacBook with the M5 chip made the jump easy. Setup was straightforward with my Apple ID, and my photos, messages, and notes showed up right away. Performance feels instant for everyday tasks (email, dozens of browser tabs, video calls, light photo/video edits), and the battery reliably lasts me a full day. The screen is sharp and bright, text looks crisp, and the speakers are surprisingly full for a thin laptop. The keyboard feels comfortable, and the large trackpad with gestures made navigation intuitive even for a newcomer.
What I didn’t love: there’s a learning curve coming from a touch-only world, and I wish there were a couple more built-in ports. Also, some pro apps took me a bit to configure the first time. But overall, this MacBook made me more productive on day one and has been rock-solid and quiet.

Looking at this laptop purely on its own merits, there's a lot to like. There are literally dozens of videos online you can seek out that discuss raw benchmark numbers so I won't get into that here, but in regular day-to-day usage, the M5 processor delivers a snappy, highly responsive experience. Things like opening applications and other single-threaded burst tasks feel quicker than even my Mac Mini with the M4 Pro chip. Battery life is also out of the world. Using it an hour or two a day for things like web surfing, office work, content consumption and a bit of gaming, I can go days without having to recharge. The keyboard feels nice to type on; Apple still has the best trackpads in the business; and the mini-LED screen is excellent for productivity (though not for gaming).
Despite all the good things this MacBook Pro has to offer, there are some cracks in the facade. While still a good-looking laptop, the design is getting a bit long in the tooth, though there are rumors of a redesign coming in 2026 with the upcoming M5 Pro and Max chips. The keyboard might be good for typing, but the palm rest edges aren't beveled so they cut into my wrist, which makes it uncomfortable for extended sessions. The laptop is quiet for most of my usage, but if I push the system hard by loading up a game like Cyberpunk 2077, the fans spin up to a point where they might be too loud for some.
At the end of the day, this leads me to wonder exactly who is the target audience for this laptop. Casual users should seek a MacBook Air. It's lighter, even more portable, and has excellent performance while being completely fan-less. Creatives and power users would be better served by spending a bit more and going with a MacBook that has a Pro-level chip. It will be faster in tasks like photo and video editing while being quieter thanks to its dual-fan cooling solution. Were the M5 MacBook Pro to exist in a vacuum, it's something I could easily recommend, but it doesn't so I would look at the aforementioned alternatives first before handing over your money on this one.

I recently purchased a MacBook from Best Buy, and the whole experience was smooth and easy. The staff was helpful and answered all my questions without rushing me. The product was available in store, and the pickup process was quick—I was in and out in just a few minutes.
The MacBook came in perfect condition, sealed and exactly as described. I really appreciated how simple Best Buy makes the buying process, from checking availability online to picking it up the same day.
So far, the laptop has been working flawlessly. Overall, great experience and I’ll definitely keep buying my electronics from Best Buy.

Coming from a PC build with an RTX 4090 and AMD Ryzen 9 9800X3D, I dont expect a laptop to impress me. The MacBook Pro M5 actually did. I’ve owned an M4 15” air and traded it in for this M5 14”.
The biggest upgrade is the SSD, 3× faster than M4. The previous bottleneck on laptops has always been the SSD speeds M4 reads/writes at 2000mb vs M5 at 6000 granted its not amazing compared to what M.2 SSD’s are pushing now at 14,000 but still its a huge improvement that makes a difference

I wanted to upgrade from my M1 MacBook Pro. I will be taking classes that require a lot of video editing and I create music videos for a band. Although it was really pricey, it was worth every penny. I have a relative who likes computers and they were also impressed with the features and speed. If it’s in your budget I would definitely pick one up.

I absolutely love this computer! It is lightning fast and feels intuitive. I’ve completed my classes 3 weeks early with the help of this computer. Highly recommend. The battery is lasting me two days before I need to recharge and I do classes on it pretty much from 8-4 sometimes longer.

So far this is the best computer I’ve ever had! Super fast. I think the upgraded storage capacity prices are ridiculous though, only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars

Excellent battery life. It powers on instantly and there's no waiting time. It's a completely silent computer and stays cool no matter how long you use it.

I’ve been using the MacBook Pro M5 for a few weeks now, and I can honestly say this is one of the best laptops I’ve ever owned. The performance jump with the M5 chip is very noticeable in day-to-day use. Apps open instantly, multitasking feels effortless, and even heavier tasks like video editing, coding, and running multiple tabs at once don’t slow it down at all. Everything just feels smooth.
The battery life is another huge win. I can easily go through a long workday without needing to plug it in, and it barely gets warm even during heavier processes. The display is absolutely stunning—bright, sharp, and perfect for both productivity and media. The speakers sound great, and the build quality is the premium Apple feel we expect.
What I love most is how quiet it stays. Even when I’m pushing it, the fans barely make a sound. It’s honestly a powerful machine that still feels lightweight and comfortable to use for long hours.
Overall, the MacBook Pro M5 exceeded my expectations in every way. If you’re thinking about upgrading, this model is 100% worth it. Smooth, fast, reliable, and an amazing experience from the moment you open the lid.

Switching over from the Windows ecosystem, I have to say—this laptop feels like moving from traffic on I-85 straight onto an empty Autobahn. It’s smooth, fast, and so polished it almost feels illegal.
The M5 chip? Honestly, it performs so well I keep wondering if Apple secretly installed a tiny superhero inside. Apps launch instantly, multitasking is buttery, and there’s absolutely zero lag—like, “did it even think about loading?” zero.
The Liquid Retina display with 120 Hz refresh rate is another show-off feature. Photos and videos look so crisp that even my old vacation pictures suddenly seem professionally shot.
Battery life? Charge it once, forget the charger, and live your best life for the rest of the day. And despite throwing some stress at it—gaming, 4K streaming—it stays impressively quiet, as if it’s meditating through the workload.
Overall, it’s an excellent laptop and a joy to use. Yes, it’s pricier than most Windows machines—but honestly, it performs like it knows it’s expensive.

I recently bought the MacBook Pro M5 during the Black Friday sale, and it’s been an impressive upgrade. The new M5 chip delivers noticeably faster performance in multitasking, coding, and creative apps, making everything feel smoother and more responsive. The Liquid Retina XDR display is stunning as always, and the build quality, speakers, and battery life remain top-tier. Even under heavier workloads, it stays quiet and efficient. While it doesn’t bring a major design change from previous models, and the improvements are more incremental than revolutionary, the performance jump and upgraded internals make it feel incredibly powerful for everyday productivity and pro-level tasks. Overall, it’s a fantastic machine and absolutely worth the deal I got during Black Friday.

Bought this to replace an older version and my son couldn’t be happier with this. He’s a mechanical engineering student and this computer is perfect for his needs. Looks like and no issues. Great speed. Amazing quality.

Outstanding. I was hesitant to buy a MacBook at first because I needed to run SolidWorks, but with Parallels, it actually performs better than the average Windows laptop.
