My mom is from the generation of "how does this work?" when it comes to technology, so I thought maybe she would enjoy something a little more easier to use. How right I was.
Pros:
+The computer runs on a Intel Core i3-7100U (latest generation when this is posted), 8GB-DDR4 RAM, 500GB HDD (not SSD sadly), and standard Real HD Graphics. Pretty good for the price.
+The touchscreen + smart pen makes accessibility and using the laptop simple for even a kid to use.
+Battery life holds up well for max lighting and using the touchscreen which lasted for about 5 hours, whereas not using these would last 6 hours.
+Charging only takes an hour to full.
+Chiclet keyboard as standard to most laptops nowadays but typing feels very fluid on this.
+Light. The laptop is extremely light.
Cons:
-The finishing is really smooth so expect scratches in the future.
-Speakers are placed at the top the laptop, so when you fold the unit into touchscreen mode, it gets muffled if you place it on your lap, bed, etc.
-Colors on the screen a little dull, but may be adjusted through Intel HD properties.
-Webcam is really low in terms of quality but that's expected from laptop webcams.
Summary:
I had purchased this laptop for $330 for Black Friday and I highly suggest it if you can get it at this price. The charger is somewhat bulky for what the laptop is based on size so prepare to bring it in a bigger carrying bag. The laptop does run on a Core i3 so don't expect fast, but the laptop still runs really well for standard muli-tasking. If you're looking for inexpensive and handy, this is the go-to.

Good Budget Laptop For Student

The HP 14" x360 is a pretty good laptop for students on a budget. The Intel Core i3 is a lot better than the Intel Celerons or Core M processors you'll find in most cheaper laptops. It will handle most lighter tasks such as web browsing, watching/streaming video, and general productivity tasks such as email and typing no problem. You can definitely do a bit of light graphic work such as photo editing, which is helped by the inclusion of the HP Active Pen. However, being an i3 it definitely isn't designed to handle more intense tasks like heavy video editing or large Photoshop/Illustrator documents, however for most students this will be more than enough.
The build quality is pretty good, the finish is nice, and while it's not an entirely metal laptop, it does feel very sturdy. It looks nice and has a simple design. It's very light and even though the screen is 14", it will fit in bags designed for a 13" computer. Having a USB-C port is also a really nice addition to see at this price point.
There are two downsides for me on this computer however. The first is the screen. The screen isn't bad, although it definitely isn't a very high quality panel. The resolution is 1366 x 768 which I don't like at all for a 2017 laptop. The viewing angles don't seem very good either, looking at the screen from anything other than straight on, and things will wash out pretty quickly. The second downside is the hard drive, and that's because, it's a hard drive. SSDs are the way forward, but for the price of $399, it's hard to complain. You can spend around $50 and upgrade the hard drive to an SSD, which will not only make the computer much faster, but also help the battery life significantly.
Overall, this is a good budget laptop that looks and feels much more premium. Besides the screen not being all that great, I'd say this is a good fit for students or someone who just needs a computer for lighter tasks.

Just recently purchased and love the design. Easy and lightweight to carry around and love the tablet mode to draw take quick notes. Disappointed in the battery life a little bit being that its a 2-in-1 but very versatile between modes. ALso dislike that it doesn't have a disc drive be easily fixable by purchasing a separate drive to connect if necessary.
As a complete unit though would recommend if your need something with ease of use and basic functionality of a laptop and tablet for light/moderate use.

I purchased this for my cousin. This laptop is the best buy for the bucks you for it. Great design, flowless touch screen, absolutely love 360-degree fold feature, cute pen that comes with it. It has descent battery. No issues so far of owning this product for almost 4 weeks now.

My son needed a good computer for high school. He lovess this computer because it fits in his backpack, only 14' and very thin. But it is still fast and does everything he needs. It has intel proc, very fast. Also has 8mb ram memory and 500 hard drive. All this for only $399. Love the purchase

This is an outstanding laptop considering all of the hardware inside of it for the price. Can go wrong with 8 gb of ran, i3 2.4 ghz processor, and 500 gb hard drive for $400. Will definitely last me at least 5 years just like my previous hp.

I love HP products and I had been wanting a touch screen laptop so when this one went on sale I jumped on it especially after reading the reviews. I love the overall idea of the laptop. I only had it for about a week and haven’t had much time to play with it but it’s a little on the slow side for me. It takes a while to start up and the anti virus that came with it doesn’t seem to work. The touch part works good, the pen works fine as well. The look is good I just have to use the laptop more to get a good feel for it.

The laptop has a slow startup and even brand new after leaving it in sleep mode over night it was having a hard time starting up the next day. I had to hard shut down which was difficult as there is no access to the battery. On the other hand the laptop has a great feel and very clean looking. Once given time to load up it functions well. I love the pen and the 2 in 1 feature because it has a great response in the touch screen and it's easy to hold. I do love it.

Good computer but display?

This is a great laptop, however it does not have an any angle view display. You have to pretty much be in front of it which is not cool when you put it in tablet mode and you’re presenting to other people. It should be more like a tablet where you can view from any angle but the display is not that good. Everything else is great, processor, I did add more memory and hard drive is OK, I would recommend swapping that out as well to a solid-state drive but it’s easy to do.
