This is a fantastic horror movie. Stephen King is back! I say that because after Kingdom Hospital, I was scared that maybe his best days were behind him. (If you haven't seen Kingdom Hospital, it's the most boring, drawn out, waste of 10 hours! It's not scary at all! In fact, it's more like a really confusing comedy. It's a horror version of Scrubs.) But, after 1408 and The Mist, I'm confident in The King once again. In fact, this reminds me of the Stephen King of old, before all of the made-for-TV mini series movies. This is an amazing suspenseful thriller, and John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson were terrific. My wife and I loved this film! I highly recommend it! And if you haven't seen The Mist by now, you should. The King is back!!!

This movie is a pretty good movie for a thriller. The movie had a good storyline and good acting. Samuel L. Jackson did not really have a big rolel in this movie, and John Crusack did a good job playing his role. I never really felt drawn into the movie like I would like to. The beginning is pretty drawn out but it does set you up for what is going to happen. If you are expecting this to be a scary horror movie (like I did), it's not. I found this movie a little comical at times also. It is basically just a thinking movie. I would recommend you to rent this first before buying it. I hope that helped some kind a way.

The movie itself is well thought out. No monsters or humans killing people, but a room that would drive people into insanity to kill themselves by showing their weaknesses. Cusack and Jackson both deliver in their respective roles to drive this story. The only problem I had with this movie was the beginning until Jackson's appearance. This part had to be told to understand Cusack's character, but it had the tendency to drag the movie and left a bitter taste to the movie. But overall, the movie was well executed. The acting carried this what could have been a B-movie. It gives people a different kind of thriller.

The short story 1408 brings tears to my eyes when i read it because my eyes water when i'm extremely scared. I can still read it to this day years later and it still has the same effect. The movie however is missing some of the elements that made the story so horrifying. So my advice; read the short story, see the movie! It has great acting and the plot is the same as the book so it will please the picky like myself. Wish they would have put several things into the movie that would had made the audience wet their pants.

This was a great horror movie! I love Stephen King! Plus, I'm a huge fan of John Cusack and Samuel Jackson. I've seen the theatrical cut and the extended cut with alternate ending. I have to say, I liked the alternate ending much better. That's why I recommend this special edition, it has both versions, the endings are completely different. Also, as a huge Stephen King fan, I'm still waiting for someone to make the Dark Tower series into films, (not a mini series, but an actual 7 part movie experience.)

This film was one of the first "horror" movies that i saw in the theaters, and now with the raise in ticket prises, the only movies i go to see are the horror movies. From the getco, stephen king entangles you with his amazing storyline and dramatic ending. Although the acting is a blotchey at spots, this movie deserves full credit for it's unique and originall story. ( recommended for the M. Night Shamylan fans )

I am pretty picky about my scary movies. I am not into all the gore and blood. I prefer the suspenseful scary movies where the story doesnt need to scare you with gore. This movie falls in this category. Great acting, good story, and suspenseful without over the top blood and guts. Definately a must watch in October before halloween. Especially if you are going on a trip where you are staying in a hotel.

This movie reminds me of The Shining, because the evil spirit or ghostly presence dosnt attack the body but the mind. Other horror movies go by the same old plot " Killer on the loose " and this movie has a differnt aproach. Its worth buying on Blu ray or renting even though the visuals are average. But why would you buy SD anyway?Once you go Blu-ray you never go back.

This would be an alright movie to watch if you are bored on a Monday night, but if you are expecting a suspenseful thriller to gear you up for the Halloween season, this isn't it. "1408" has a fitting cast that deliver excellent performances, but their great acting doesn't really trump the poor scripting. Every time the movie gets interesting, it dies down again and hits some sort of dead end. You are just thrown into the main character's life and slowly figure out his past, but you don't really feel for him because it seems like the story is conceived as it goes; there should be a scene explaining his troubled past or something. Well, as to not ruin the movie for those who may enjoy it, I won't say any more, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this film unless you've seen every other movie you wanted to.

This movie was extremely well made and the sequence of the scenes were magnificent. The plot was somewhat twisted in a sense that you won't expect what you see! I would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants suspense and a whole lot of ponderous thoughts!

THIS MOVIE WAS REALLY GOOD-IT WAS A SCARY MOVIE BUT IT ALSO HAD A LOT OF MYSTERY TO IT-I REALLY ENJOYED THIS MOVIE-I FELT AS IF I WAS EXPERIENCING THE ROOM AS HE WAS-I FLET LIKE I WAS IN THE MOVIE TOO-IT WAS SCARY AND SAD AND MYSTERIOUS--AWESOME-I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR A GOOD TIME

Amazing, simply amazing...just when I thought I had figured it out I had it wrong...the movie sucks you in for the entire thing, I was so into it that I forgot that my friends were sitting next to me in the movie theater...needless to say they scared me when they tapped me on the shoulder...5 stars see it!

A Stephen King's fan dream! Must see. Not too many films has done Stephen King's novels justice....this one does as excellent job of pulling you into the story like King's books and never letting you go. Leaves you wanting more!

Absolutly love the movie. Seen it in the movies and bought it when it came out. Worth the money. Everyone should watch it at least once. You'll love it. Sort of confusing at times but it all makes sense at the end.

Being a true and lifelong Stephen King fan, I was really looking forward to this movie. While the acting of John Cusack was superb and his character totally believable, I was disappointed in the fact that the movie strayed far, far from the actual storyline contained in the written version. For anyone who has never read the original sotry by Stephen King, you are in for some true "cover your eyes and peek through your fingers" moments and will go away satisfied that this was a true horror movie. But, for die-hard Stephen King fans such as myself you may find youself asking, "What in the world was that all about?"

For the most part I liked the movie, although the ending has changed from the version I saw at the movies. I was really taken by surprise. Honestly I think I like the new darker ending even more. The acting is good and the story is for the most part original.

This is a good movie that causes you to use your brain. Can be creepy and scary at times if you allow yourself to be enveloped by the film. If your looking for a bloody horror flick, his is not it...this movie requires you to think.

1408 is a movie that I would say is good... but not that good. It's a movie you kind of finish watching thinking "Why in the world did I watch this movie?" Then a couple days later you are glad you did. This is the only reason I recommend watching this movie. John Cusack plays a troubled person who writes reviews about haunted houses. He mysteriously gets wind of a room that everyone who stays in it dies. He has never seen a supernatural moment in any of his reviewing so he has to check out this "haunted" room. The hotel manager tries to persuade him not to but of course he does anyway. Thrills and mystery ensue. I say check it out, you may not like it, but you'll probably be glad you saw it.

Bought this movie not knowing a lot about it. Stephen King is master when it comes to Thriller's. This movie was no different. Great Story, Effect, Acting, ect.......... If you you are a Horror Movie fan this is for you.

Steven King has done it again. The master of horror delivers with this movie. The movie will keep you guessing and the ending is awesome.
