This is an epic World War One story that has extreme realism and cinematographic scenes. I have seen few movies about WW 1 that have come up to the quality of this one. Of Course I got a great deal from Best Buy. The Curb side service at the Lakewood store was very efficient and friendly. I give a big thumbs up to the manager and staff at the Lakewood CA. Store. This location is well organized and the staff keeps it up so that it is a great place to shop in and I recommend this location.

I waited for the 4K version of this movie to go on sale, because I read how good the video transfer was. I wasn’t disappointed. The picture quality is amazing. One of the best I have ever seen. It was a bonus that the movie itself was really good. Great story. It really brought the horrors of war into your living room. It’s hard to imagine what it was like to be in a war., but this movie gives you a look at what it was like. It’s unbelievable what the men and women who fought in those wars went through. I salute them.

1917 was nominated for 10 Oscars (including Best Picture and Director) and winning 3 (Cinematography, Sound Mixing, and Visual Effects). The story is similar to the movie Apocalypse Now but without the madness. My only fault with this release is that extras come up a bit short (standard fluff pieces) but there are two Audio Commentaries, one by the director/co-writer Sam Mendes and the other by the director of photography Roger Deakins that are excellent and well worth listening to.

A unique war film that puts you in a front row of a dark ride at an amusement park. Not done on a single take as some might say, but pretty close to nonstop as you the viewer follows the lead actors on foot throughout a beautiful production on an unbelievable scale! A unique war film that i happily purchased even thought im not the biggest fan of war pictures. This Blu ray also includes a DVD which is perfect if dad or grandpa doesn't have that modern-day device that all the kids have.

I really enjoyed this movie. The story line is simple but powerful. I felt like i was following the main character trying to fulfill his mission to save his fellow soldiers. What’s amzing is the camera work. I just notice in the middle of the movie that seems like the did the whole movie in one cut. It felt like the camera was shooting continuously and you wonder how a camera follwing the character then all of a sudden rises above and now seems like flying. But after watching the extra, they show how they did it all.

This movie is a must see. The cinematography lends to a tense roller coaster ride as the main characters embark on a journey to save hundreds of troops on the front line before time runs out. The movie is filmed to look like one continuous take, so it runs in real time. Great look at World War 1 and the nuances of siege/trench warfare during that era. If you like war movies with historical realism, watch this movie. Sound and Picture are top notch. Not a lot of LFE, which was surprising, but very entertaining.

The sight and sound from this movie were as expected - worth the $$$ I paid for the movie. As for the plot - Not what I expected. A single-threaded story, you'll know the story is after the first 5 minutes. Then you just live that story to the end... So, for me, I was just there experiencing great cinematography and immersive sound. Watch the bonus clips to really appreciate what it took to film this movie. E.g. Six (6) minute unedited single camera shoots - amazing!

Director Sam Mendes gives audiences one of the most heart-pounding war movies we’ve ever had as two soldiers have to make their way across enemy territory in order to stop an attack that will be ambushed. The movie is presented as one long take and not a minute of film is wasted on this war film that managed to surprise me when I thought that war films could never do that again. Top notch storytelling all around and about a war that is often overlooked in the history books.

I can't speak to the historical accuracy of 1917 but the camera work on this film is worth it alone. If you don't already own it, do yourself a favor and pick up the 4K UHD copy, you won't regret it. You don't see many WWI films being made and this is an excellent one. It's from the British perspective as they cross into German territory to warn of an impending German counterattack.

This period film completely draws you in to the characters and scenery. The production should be a reference standard if you want to see how great your 4k UHD picture quality is. Closeups have tons of fine detail and texture, and the way this film progresses from landscape to landscapes and from one tone or shade to another will give your bright and dark UHD quality a workout. Beautiful tones and color, great action, interesting characters, and steady pacing really make this a movie worth owning. Enjoy!

Best Buy has really done it with this one! The exclusive steelbook is absolutely amazing. I love the minimal design that contrasts with the epic movie contained inside. The movie is a crazy ride that feels like one continuous cut so you never leave the side of the main soldiers as they trek over enemy lines on a suicidal mission to save 1600 troops from certain death. The action, tension and emotion is rarely delivered this effectively. I can't recommend this movie enough! The execution was top notch!

This Sam Mendes masterpiece is worth owning and if you buy it buy in in 4K. The single continuous long shots are amazing cinematographer Roger Deakins finally got his Oscar and deserved it for this one. Beautiful film and moving without the heaviness you expect from a war movie. I saw this on the big screen (in the old days when that was common, easy and safe). But it is still beautiful on my 55 inch 4K. I don’t like clutter but I wanted this in my Media and digital library.

4K perfection. The HDR is amazing. This cinematography deserves every detail and superb contrast your system can muster. An incredible tale showing the true horrors of war. The insanity that comes from the cruelty men will do to win and how powerless so many are to stop it. The drive of the main characters to save their fellow soldiers is inspirational and while at times the story seems second to the visual and auditory presentation, you will not regret watching this.

This was rightfully nominated for best picture. The use of the continuous camera is perfect for this film. This camera work helps builds suspense and makes you feel like you are there with the main characters. Birdman successfully used this technique in 2014 but this seems to be more naturalistic here. Using little known actors allows you to feel it is real rather than admiring the acting of known personalities. Highly recommend to those that admire gritty, vicarious thrills.

What can I say about this film. It is an amazing achievement in cinematography and this 4k transfer is flawless. The scenes looked absolutely life-like on my 65 inch LG OLED. There's not many movies that make me say WOW, but this is one of them. Audio is fantastic as well with it's dolby atmos sound track. I would gladly pay retail price on this, but luckily picked it up during the black friday sale. I highly recommend this if youre a 4k blu ray enthusiast.

Steelbook: The steelbook offers a very impactful minimalist artwork. Makes a statement and is exclusive to Best Buy (US). Movie: 1917 is no doubt one of the best wartime movies ever made and curated on film. Brilliantly choreographed and directed. If you have not seen 1917, you are in for a treat. 4K Presentation: 4K transfer of 1917 is well done and everything you expect from a big release. HDR is on point and will not disappoint if you have a capable tv set.

Besides being an engaging and excellently crafted film, this 4K transfer is among the best in my personal collection. Watching this on the "small screen", I was impressed by the vivid colors and sharpness of the visual presentation - I could pick out details in some of the more darkened scenes than I could watching it in the theater. The audio presentation was equally impressive - the soundtrack balanced well with the ambiance of the battle field. A must-have movie in anyone's home library.

As much as I am glad that a foreign film was awarded Best Picture at the Oscars, 1917 is my personal movie of the year in 2019. The first World War isn't one that the media focuses on, until as of late with Battlefield 1 and such. This movie is a harrowing and very well shot tale of duty and bravery. It puts me to tears every time. I had my dad watch this and he usually hates British productions since they're very dialogue heavy. He loved this movie too.

1917 is one of the best movies of 2019, this is a very emotional movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The UHD 4K has breathtaking visual with the use of HDR and the Dolby Atmos track will test the capabilities of your sound system, you feel like you are right in the middle of the battle field. It also comes with a separate blu ray disc and a digital code. Highly Recommended

As soon as I watched the movie in theater I immediately wanted this movie in my 4K collection. This is one of the best movie I watched in theater before the pandemic and the screenplay and cinematography is top notch. I highly recommend this movie in 4K if you have a 4K player or just want to own a digital 4K movie with CDs for a great deal. I bought this at thanksgiving for a sweet deal which make this a delightful purchase.
